Huawei Cloud Promotes Efficient Computing for AI Pioneers Across Industries

Huawei Cloud Empowers AI Innovations at HUAWEI CONNECT 2025

At the second day of HUAWEI CONNECT 2025, held in Shanghai, Huawei's Executive Director and CEO of Huawei Cloud, Zhang Ping'an, delivered a compelling keynote titled "Fully Intelligent: Enhancing AI Pioneers Across Industries." During the talk, he highlighted the breakthroughs and applications made by Huawei Cloud in artificial intelligence (AI) computing services, unveiling the potential that these advancements hold for businesses.

In this rapidly changing landscape, Huawei Cloud introduced the AI Computing Service backed by CloudMatrix384, showcasing its capability to support hyper-scale clusters with a capacity expansion from 384 to an astonishing 8,192 units. This super-node capability is significant as it can manage between 500,000 to a million cards, offering a robust AI computing power that is invaluable in the smart era. Moreover, the company has presented an innovative memory storage solution, the Elastic Memory Service (EMS), which broadens video RAM memory. This groundbreaking approach notably reduces latency in multi-turn interactions within foundational models, greatly enhancing user experience.

Huawei Cloud has established fully liquid-cooled AI data centers in various regions across China, including Guizhou, Inner Mongolia, and Anhui. These state-of-the-art data centers are designed to manage heat dissipation of up to 80 kW per cabinet, achieving energy efficiency (PUE) as low as 1.1 while providing AI-enabled Operation and Maintenance services. Businesses can now leverage these facilities without the need for restructuring traditional data centers or constructing new ones — a simple optical fiber connection suffices to tap into efficient AI computing as well as comprehensive private cloud services.

Zhang Ping'an emphasized that Huawei Cloud’s AI Token Service abstracts the underlying technical complexities, providing users straightforward access to the ultimate AI computing results. This service optimizes the usage of inference computing power efficiently, enabling seamless transactions in processing, memory, and storage while decoupling processing tasks from storage and transforming serial assignments into distributed parallel tasks. This results in significantly improved inference performance across various scenarios, meeting different latency requirements for online, near-line, and offline processing tasks.

Additionally, the official launch of the AI Token Service, supported by CloudMatrix384, promises customers superior performance, service quality, and responsive support. Taking a direct approach to address industry-specific challenges, Huawei Cloud continues to develop Pangu Models, which redefine the possibilities across various sectors by collaborating closely with clients. The company leverages openPangu to facilitate optimal use of AI computing power in training and inference, continually increasing its investments in these models. By understanding the varying needs through active examination of industry scenarios, Huawei aids customers in developing tailored models to accelerate smart transformation across sectors.

The Pangu Models have already been applied across over 500 scenarios within more than 30 industries, significantly impacting domains such as government services, finance, manufacturing, healthcare, coal mining, steel, railways, autonomous driving, and meteorology.

Elevating Robotic Capabilities with Cloud Intelligence

This year also marked the debut of the CloudRobo platform, which utilizes complex algorithms and intelligent logic on the cloud to advance robotic capabilities. It capitalizes on the immense computation power of the cloud and advanced AI models to facilitate smarter operations in robots, tearing down existing limitations and broadening their suitability for various applications. Furthermore, Huawei Cloud unveiled the Robotic to Cloud (R2C) Protocol to establish a unified, open, and secure communication channel between robots and the cloud, formally introducing the first 20 partners of this protocol, as announced by Zhang Ping'an.

Harnessing the synergy of hardware and software with Kunpeng cloud services, Huawei Cloud strives to bolster industry innovation while assuring performance, security, and reliability. The number of Kunpeng computation cores hosted on Huawei Cloud surged from 9 million to 15 million over the past year, marking a 67% increase. Continual enhancements to the Kunpeng platform have fostered compatibility with mainstream software, adapting for over 25,000 applications and ensuring a robust foundation for widespread computing scenarios.

Enhancing Data Reliability with GaussDB

The GaussDB databases based on general-purpose computing super nodes enable a tiered pooling of computing, memory, and storage resources. This setup allows for concurrent multi-read/write operations on any node, breaking free from the traditional architecture that restricts processes to relying solely on the primary node to support data transactions. GaussDB supports dynamic load planning to tremendously boost performance—for instance, a GaussDB cluster deployed on super nodes can process up to 5.4 million transactions per minute, corresponding to a staggering 2.9 times performance improvement compared to non-super nodes.

Comprehensive Distributed Cloud Solutions

To amplify performance across various scenarios, Huawei Cloud has developed a distributed cloud solution encompassing CloudOcean, CloudSea, CloudLake, and CloudPond, providing consistent and optimal computing power wherever clients operate. Also launching an enterprise-level enabling platform named Versatile, it aims to facilitate the development and operation of AI agents with user-friendly, effective solutions, streamlining the process for clients wanting to create AI agents that suit their operational needs. Client users can initiate projects merely by preparing the necessary documentation and achieving a simple approval, which in just two steps, can lead to the rapid generation of AI agents, thus substantially enhancing productivity.

In conjunction with these keynote presentations, the event has fostered progressive forums and round table discussions aimed toward amplifying collaborative innovations between Huawei Cloud and its partners. These dialogues have showcased how technological advancements can propel the digital and intelligent transformation of industries efficiently.
