Valmet to Supply Advanced IntelliTissue 1600 Machine to PT Suparma in Indonesia
Valmet, a premier global technology provider, has announced its plan to deliver an IntelliTissue 1600, a state-of-the-art tissue machine, to PT Suparma Tbk, located in Surabaya, Indonesia. This delivery aims to bolster PT Suparma's production capabilities, specifically targeting high-quality tissue products for looming demand across the Asia-Pacific market. The installation is slated for operation in 2026, marking a significant milestone in the longstanding partnership between the two companies.
The recent order was recorded as part of Valmet's orders received in the second quarter of 2025. However, the financial details regarding the transaction have not been publicly disclosed. Valmet's history with PT Suparma dates back many years, and this new project reflects their continued collaboration. The last successful installation occurred in 2022 with the introduction of the IntelliTissue machine TM10 in the same mill, showcasing their capacity to adapt and innovate.
Joseph Sulaiman, the Director at PT Suparma Tbk, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, "It is a pleasure to expand our cooperation with Valmet through our new Tissue Machine investment. We chose Valmet as the supplier for this milestone project due to their strong grasp of our specific needs and the successful partnership illustrated during our previous project. We certainly look forward to advancing our relationship in the future."
Pemo Klimczak, Vice President of Valmet's SMM business unit, mirrored this sentiment, emphasizing the significance of this partnership. "We take pride in having fostered a long and productive relationship with PT Suparma Tbk. We are thrilled to again be entrusted with providing our reliable and resource-efficient IntelliTissue concept, working collaboratively to enhance their ongoing tissue expansion. I am confident this project will be efficient and will allow for a seamless startup process,” he remarked.
The project’s scope comprises an entire tissue production line complete with stock preparation equipment. Notably, the IntelliTissue 1600 machine will integrate advanced features such as an IntelliJet V headbox, Crescent Former, and IntelliPress, ultimately culminating in an IntelliYankee dryer, Exhaust Cap hood, and an IntelliReel section. The inclusion of leading mechanical and electrical drives, combined with the Valmet DNA system—which incorporates machine control, distributed control, and quality control systems—will ensure optimal operation and quality assurance throughout the production lifecycle. Additionally, a robust dust removal system and auxiliary systems will be implemented to maintain high operational standards in the tissue line.
This new tissue line is expected to augment PT Suparma Tbk's annual production capacity by an impressive 26,500 tons, further establishing its position as a key player in the tissue manufacturing market.
PT Suparma Tbk, founded in 1976, has made significant strides in the paper and tissue manufacturing sector in Indonesia, emphasizing reliability and quality in its extensive product offerings. The company maintains a commitment to continuous improvement, product innovation, and eco-friendly production practices, often utilizing recovered fibers in their products.
