Background of the Event
Since the military coup in Myanmar on February 1, 2021, the country has been engulfed in turmoil. Under a repressive military regime, the lives of the citizens have been threatened by violence and oppression. Amidst this bleak scenario, a citizen group called
Max Help is diligently working towards creating a peaceful and just future for Myanmar, focusing on sustainable agriculture, democratic education, and modern healthcare. In 2023, the Japan YWCA joined the international framework of the
Burma Platform to support the efforts of Max Help.
Thanks to the generosity of Kawai Instruments and pianist
Diego Caetano, a charity piano recital will be held to support Myanmar. Esteemed Kawai-certified artist, Caetano, will perform on the prestigious
Shigeru Kawai Grand Piano. Mezzo-soprano
Izumi Tanabe will also make a friendly appearance, adding to the depth of the performance.
All proceeds from this charity piano recital, after deducting expenses, will be donated to
Max Help through the
Burma Platform.
