HONOR Unveils Open AI Ecosystem at MWC 2026
During the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026, HONOR, a global ecosystem focused on AI-powered devices, revealed its ambitious vision for an open AI ecosystem through its platform, HONOR AI Connect. On March 2, the company's strategy was presented during the inaugural ConnectAI panel discussion, showcasing its commitment to integrating over 20,000 AI services by the end of this year.
Fang Fei, the President of Products at HONOR, highlighted the shift from being a smartphone manufacturer to a pioneer in the AI device ecosystem. Central to this transformation is the HONOR AI Connect platform, designed to empower ecosystem partners with essential AI capabilities. This initiative aims to foster an extensive exchange of information, creating personalized avatars for users across various brand devices.
During the panel discussion, Fang Fei was joined by Philippe Lucas, Executive Vice President of Orange Innovation, to discuss the convergence of AI, devices, and connectivity. The discussion focused on breaking down silos and emphasized HONOR's dedication to collaborating with partners like Orange to expand into new device categories, including education, smart homes, audio products, pet technology, and more.
Fang drew an intriguing parallel between this AI evolution and the historical Cambrian Explosion, marking a pivotal moment where a sudden diversification of life forms occurred millions of years ago. She suggested that the industry is on the brink of a similar explosion of intelligent devices, which will evolve rapidly and in diverse forms. This includes not only embodied AI, such as the emerging HONOR Robot Phone but also specialized AI developments through collaborative partnerships.
"At HONOR, we believe that closed ecosystems are a thing of the past," Fang stated. "Our vision is simple. We want to combine our human-centered approach with technology to unlock each individual's potential. We are creating AI companions that enhance creativity and connectivity among users."
This transformation is driven by the evolution of distributed technologies. Unlike in the past, when human-computer interactions were limited to a single screen, today’s technology allows for seamless interaction across multiple devices.
HONOR's strategy reflects two key trends in the industry:
the decoupling of intelligent equipment, where devices evolve into specialized peripherals for specific scenarios, and
the pervasive dissemination of AI entry points, leading to new interaction paradigms tailored to real-world conditions.
To deliver a truly unified experience, HONOR is implementing its open AI ecosystem strategy via HONOR AI Connect. In this innovative paradigm, the 'interface' becomes an AI agent—a personal digital twin living on the user's devices. This digital twin comprehends the user’s intentions, transitioning that understanding across connected devices, such as smartphones, vehicles, smart homes, and service robots, ensuring smooth and continuous intelligence across platforms.
The new generation of devices introduced by HONOR moves away from traditional formats, embodying the concept of
Augmented Human Intelligence (AHI), where devices act not just as passive tools but as proactive partners. A prime example is the HONOR Robot Phone, a groundbreaking device that merges smartphone innovation with robotics, functioning as a personal filmmaker that automatically follows and captures videos, empowering users to actively participate in creating their own memories.
Moreover, on March 1, HONOR launched the ultra-slim HONOR Magic V6, its latest AI-enabled foldable smartphone, alongside innovative PCs, tablets, and more. Visitors to MWC can witness the future of intelligent devices at HONOR’s booth in Hall 3, where they can explore everything from the Robot Phone to the latest breakthroughs in foldable technology, tablets, and PCs.
