Russell's Reserve Celebrates Eddie Russell's 45-Year Craft with a Special Release and Documentary

Russell's Reserve Commemorates Eddie Russell's Legacy

Russell's Reserve is proud to honor Master Distiller Eddie Russell with a heartfelt tribute celebrating his remarkable 45-year career. A significant milestone in bourbon craftsmanship, this occasion not only acknowledges Eddie's extensive expertise but also marks the introduction of the 13 Year Old Bourbon slated for a Spring 2026 release.

A Journey Through Time

Eddie Russell's journey in the bourbon industry began in 1981 at Wild Turkey Distilling Co., starting as a summer job. What was initially a seasonal role transformed into a lifelong passion, and over the decades, Eddie evolved into a Hall of Fame Master Distiller. His influence in crafting modern bourbon is profound and enduring.

In celebration of his extraordinary career, Russell's Reserve has produced an original short documentary titled "His Own Way: The Story of Eddie Russell". This film chronicles Eddie's pathway through the distillery, highlighting his development as a craftsman as well as his core values and relationships within the industry.

The 13 Year Old Bourbon Release

Alongside the documentary, Russell's Reserve will also launch the 2026 13 Year Old Bourbon, which features a commemorative label honoring Eddie's 45 years of commitment to the craft. This limited release encapsulates Eddie's philosophy of bourbon-making, focusing on the essence of the barrel and the deep, rich flavors born from careful maturation.

This year's bourbon will be bottled at a barrel proof of 60.6% (121.2 proof), ensuring a complex taste profile that showcases Eddie's unique selection process. The flavor notes include hints of vanilla, brown sugar, and bright fruit flavors of cherry and citrus, complemented by subtle spices of nutmeg and cola. The finish is described as medium-long, with caramel and toffee notes, leaving a delightful aftertaste of oak tannin.

Eddie's son, Bruce Russell, who serves as the Associate Master Blender, shared his emotional connection to this tribute. He reflected on the significance of tasting an 18-year-old barrel with his father during the filming of the documentary, noting how this moment encapsulated the essence of Eddie's lifetime achievements. The barrel selected during that filming will also be part of the 13 Year Old release, further intertwining Eddie's legacy with the bourbon itself.
