GeoQuest Unveils New Rank-Up Program
In an exciting development for users interested in earning rewards, GeoTechnologies Inc., headquartered in Bunkyo, Tokyo, has announced the introduction of a new feature within their popular point-earning app, GeoQuest (or GeoQ). Dubbed the "Rank-Up Program," this new system increases the earning potential for users based on their submission achievements in the app. Effective immediately, users can earn up to three times the miles they normally would as they climb the ranks.
The Rank-Up Program Explained
The Rank-Up Program determines user ranks based on three criteria: Experience Points (EP), OK ratio, and the number of stars earned from high-quality submissions. User ranks are automatically assessed on the first day of each month based on the submissions made over the last three months. A new feature called "My Page" has been added to allow users to view their current rank and the conditions needed for rank advancement.
Criteria for Ranking
- - Experience Points (EP): The total EP accumulated through submissions.
- - OK Ratio: The percentage of submitted photos that meet the required guidelines and are deemed valid.
- - Star Count: Number of stars received for high-quality submissions.
Reward Structure by Rank
- - Regular: 1x miles, 5 submissions per day, 20 temporary saves.
- - Bronze: 1x miles, 5 submissions per day, 25 temporary saves.
- - Silver: 2x miles, 10 submissions per day, 50 temporary saves.
- - Gold: 3x miles, 20 submissions per day, 100 temporary saves, plus exclusive participation rights for special quests and priority in real events.
Features of My Page
On the My Page feature, users can easily check:
- - Current rank
- - Progress on the three ranking criteria (EP, OK ratio, star count)
- - Conditions for advancing to the next rank
- - Remaining submissions allowed for the day

Background for Program Launch
Developed by GeoTechnologies over the past 30 years, GeoQuest primarily aims to collect essential information for digital map updates. The data gathered from users across Japan has surpassed 2 million submissions, aiding in updates for over 300,000 locations, significantly enhancing map quality.
With the new Rank-Up Program, GeoTechnologies aims to reward its dedicated users with more miles and continue fostering their contributions to maintaining the map infrastructure. Future events and community gatherings are planned to showcase how user-generated information is used in map maintenance, as well as to gather feedback for improving the GeoQuest user experience.
What is GeoQuest?
GeoQuest is a completely free app that presents various locations as "quests"—users can visit these locations and take photos to earn miles. These miles can be redeemed for over 30 types of different rewards, including Amazon gift cards and PayPay money. The app also offers a participatory research service, GeoQuest Connect, which engages users in company and municipal surveys.
Note: To earn and redeem miles, users must link their accounts with the loyalty app "Trimar" or the point service "Trimar".
