Huawei's New Generation OceanStor Dorado Storage Validated for Performance and Reliability

At the MWC Barcelona 2026, a report released by the Enterprise Strategy Group, now part of Omdia, confirmed the technical validation of Huawei's cutting-edge converged all-flash storage solution, the OceanStor Dorado. This validation comes at a crucial time when corporate data volumes are rapidly increasing, particularly in the age of artificial intelligence (AI). Organizations are thus compelled to enhance their storage infrastructure concerning performance, resilience, intelligence, and economic effectiveness.

While numerous storage solution providers offer all-flash options, many compromise on architectural design, making it challenging to balance performance, reliability, and cost. Such limitations can hinder organizations from reaping the full benefits of these technological advancements.

The report offers an in-depth evaluation of the OceanStor Dorado's performance, resilience, intelligent management, and total cost of ownership (TCO). Findings reveal that this new generation storage product excels in these critical areas and demonstrates strong competitiveness in the market. It presents an impressive blend of high performance, robustness, and low TCO, catering to the demands of enterprises undergoing digital and intelligent transformations.

In a simulated high-competition database environment, the all-flash storage system exhibited extraordinary performance, achieving over 876,256 input/output operations per second with an astonishing average response time of just 32 microseconds. The system adeptly manages diverse data types through its proprietary and parallel architecture designed for block, file, and object storage. The active-active solution allows seamless failover between data centers, ensuring uninterrupted service.

Huawei's fully cell-based SmartMatrix architecture can withstand failures of up to seven out of eight controller chassis without service interruption. The FlashEver technology provides generational convergence, eliminating service disruptions during storage replacement. Additionally, the system integrates comprehensive intelligent protection with built-in ransomware detection for both SAN and NAS environments.

The DataMaster agent of the iMaster DME data management platform facilitates automatic system performance assessments, performance trend predictions, and fault location identification within minutes. Furthermore, a five-year analysis of the total cost of ownership indicates that the OceanStor Dorado new-generation converged all-flash storage can reduce TCO by 64% compared to traditional hybrid storage systems. This translates into significant savings in purchasing, operational, maintenance, and energy consumption costs.

Yuan Yuan, President of Huawei's Data Storage Product Line, expressed, "This technical validation by Enterprise Strategy Group illustrates Huawei's continued leadership in data storage technology innovation. In the future, we will further deepen our innovative efforts and assist in accelerating digital and intelligent transformations across various industries."
