SBI Insurance and KHB's Children's Forest Event

On April 25, 2023, SBI Insurance Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo) collaborated with KHB (Tohoku Broadcasting Co., Ltd.), based in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, to hold the 'Guriri Forest Play' event at 'Guriri no Mori' in Rifu Town, Miyagi Prefecture. This initiative brought together local families to foster a deeper understanding of forest sustainability and the surrounding natural environment.

The event welcomed 20 local families, engaging participants in various activities like forest maintenance and nature craft experiences. Notably, a total of 21 SBI Insurance employees and their family members joined in, emphasizing the importance of environmental protection and resilient forest creation in light of recent natural disasters.

This event is part of the 'KHB Green Campaign', which has been tackling local and environmental issues since 1990. Started in 2010, the campaign aims to provide children with a space to connect with nature in the woods. SBI Insurance aligns with the campaign's vision and, as a casualty insurance provider, recognizes the necessity of teaching its employees the critical role of creating disaster-resistant forests. This year, they joined the initiative to support environmental awareness and education.

In collaboration with the Miyagi Prefecture Forestry Instructor Association, participants engaged in activities designed to help children appreciate the importance and charm of nature, cultivating their interest in environmental issues. Besides the activities, each participant received an original eco-bag crafted to promote environmental consciousness and a scientific manga tailored for elementary school students, aiming to foster a closer connection with nature.

Additionally, SBI's employees participated in tasks such as creating hiking trails, maintaining bamboo groves, and planting trees. This hands-on experience allowed them to connect with forest instructors and deepen their understanding of local environmental conservation efforts.
