Misumi Group Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Logistics Center

Misumi Group Breaks Ground on New Logistics Center

On June 2, 2025, the Misumi Group, headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, celebrated the groundbreaking for its new logistics facility in Kawanishi, Hyogo Prefecture. The upcoming West Japan Distribution Center will be a monumental upgrade, expanding its floor area to approximately 7.5 times the size of the current facility.

This significant project is expected to greatly enhance the company's inventory storage and shipping processing capabilities, ultimately improving Business Continuity Planning (BCP) performance. In pursuing its commitment to elevate service standards, Misumi continues to provide immense value in time-sensitive operations for clients in the Industrial Automation (IA) sector, bolstering overall productivity on a global scale.

Overview of the New Facility

The current West Japan Distribution Center, located in Sanda, Hyogo, is set for relocation, with the new center slated to commence operations in April 2026. The new site will be part of the ESR Kawanishi Distribution Center 1 project, which boasts an impressive total floor area of 45,518 square meters, making it one of Japan's largest logistics facilities.

The advanced automation infrastructure planned for this center will include conveyance robots and proprietary digital picking carts, enabling the facility to hold an inventory capacity of 400,000 items and handle daily shipments of up to 100,000 lines. This strategic move will ensure continuous supply even in times of emergency, securing a reliable operational framework for the company.

Key Specifications of the New Center:

  • - Location: 1-444 Nagao, Higashiyanagawazaka, Kawanishi, Hyogo
  • - Total Floor Space: 45,518 square meters (approximately 13,769 tsubo)
  • - Inventory Capacity: 400,000 items
  • - Daily Shipping Capacity: 100,000 lines
  • - Expected Completion: Late May 2025, with operations starting in April 2026

Accompanying the groundbreaking ceremony was a traditional Shinto ceremony led by CEO Ryutaku Ohno, marking the significance of the new development not just for the company, but for the community and its workforce.
