AustralianSuper Expands Private Equity Team in the U.S. with New Senior Hire

AustralianSuper's Strategic Expansion in U.S. Private Equity Team

In a bid to strengthen its presence in the U.S., AustralianSuper, the largest superannuation fund in Australia, has appointed Eneasz Kadziela as a Senior Portfolio Manager. This move comes as part of the fund’s ambition to deepen its engagement with partners and identify new investment opportunities in private equity. The announcement was made on July 23, 2025, and Kadziela will be based in New York.

Kadziela previously held the role of Deputy Chief Investment Officer and Head of Private Equity at New York City Retirement Systems. His expertise will be pivotal in enhancing AustralianSuper's relationships with current investment partners and discovering high-performing investment avenues. The firm manages over US$230 billion in assets, with about half allocated globally, including US$75 billion in North America. With Kadziela on board, the U.S. Private Equity team is poised for significant growth.

Terry Charalambous, the Global Head of Private Equity at AustralianSuper, noted that Kadziela's wealth of knowledge about the U.S. private equity landscape and established connections with key investment professionals will enhance the fund's reach and effectiveness in sourcing top investment opportunities. This strategic alignment is crucial as AustralianSuper seeks sustainable long-term returns for its 3.5 million members.

Kadziela expressed enthusiasm about joining AustralianSuper, stating, “I am thrilled to be joining at such an important time in the Fund's global growth story.” He emphasized his eagerness to collaborate with teammates to cultivate and establish new investment relationships.

Eneasz Kadziela's Background

Kadziela comes with a robust resume in the finance sector. At NYCRS, he not only managed general partner relationships but also significantly amplified co-investment activities and led groundbreaking initiatives like the US$5 billion private equity secondary sale. His track record in fostering relationships with emerging managers further positions him as an excellent fit for this role.

Before his tenure at NYCRS, he served as Director of Research and Fund Relations at the Small Business Investor Alliance (SBIA), where he represented various private equity funds and institutional investors. His educational background includes a BA in Economics from Rutgers University, complemented by minors in History and Music. He is also recognized as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).

The Future of AustralianSuper in Private Equity

With Kadziela’s induction, AustralianSuper is poised to continue its robust expansion in the private equity realm. This move signifies a proactive approach to enhancing investment strategies and mitigating risks through diversification in assets. As an organization that is deeply committed to delivering sustainable long-term performance for its members, the expansion of its U.S. Private Equity team will play a vital role in reaching those goals.

As one of the top pension funds globally, AustralianSuper aims to remain a leader in the investment space, particularly in private equity sectors where the potential for growth is substantial. Members and stakeholders can expect a concerted effort towards capitalizing on the growing market opportunities at play across North America, ensuring that their retirement savings are being effectively managed for optimal outcomes.

As the organization continues to evolve and adapt to the changing financial landscape, the expertise brought by Kadziela marks a significant milestone in AustralianSuper's journey towards excellence in global investment management.
