Experience the Rich Flavor of Uji Matcha with New Products from Starbucks Japan

Experience the Rich Flavor of Uji Matcha at Home

Starbucks Coffee Japan has consistently led the way in matcha innovation, aiming to deliver exceptional tea experiences that can now be enjoyed at home. Beginning on December 13, 2025, Starbucks will launch two new products: the Starbucks® TEAVANA™ Uji Matcha & Wasanbon Stick and the Starbucks® TEAVANA™ Stone Mill Matcha (30g can). These exquisite items will be available at the TEAVANA™ Bar in the Starbucks Reserve® Roastery Tokyo as well as at 24 selected Starbucks Tea & Cafe locations across the nation.

Offering Unique Matcha Experiences

Since launching the Matcha Cream Frappuccino® in 2001 and the Matcha Tea Latte in 2006, Starbucks has continuously explored new ways to enjoy matcha. At the TEAVANA™ Bar in the Starbucks Reserve® Roastery Tokyo and the TEAVANA Store on Ginza's Marronnier Street, Starbucks has taken a step further by incorporating traditional stone mills, allowing customers to witness the matcha grinding process firsthand. This innovative approach has not only enhanced the flavor but also elevated the overall matcha experience, making it well-received among customers.

The goal behind the new product lines is to bring this authentic matcha experience into customers' homes, enabling them to relish in the rich flavors they might have previously only enjoyed at Starbucks locations.

Premium Matcha From Tea Fields to You

In response to growing demand for a refined matcha experience, Starbucks has meticulously selected tea leaves from the tencha (碾茶), known for its cultivation methods akin to high-quality gyokuro. The grinding process is gentle and slow to prevent heat from altering the matcha's profile. The result is a vividly green, fragrant matcha with a rich umami flavor, and minimal bitterness and astringency—now customizable in the comfort of your home.

The Starbucks® TEAVANA™ Uji Matcha & Wasanbon Stick encompasses the essence of Uji matcha handmade from high-quality leaves processed through traditional methods. The combination of delicate Wasanbon, a fine Japanese sugar, adds an elegant sweetness that perfectly complements the matcha's attributes. Users can simply mix it with milk for a delightful matcha tea latte experience. Nonfat milk further accentuates the matcha’s aromatic profile and full body. This versatile product can also be enjoyed hot or cold, and users can opt for water or hot water as an alternate base.

Conversely, the Starbucks® TEAVANA™ Stone Mill Matcha offers the same high-grade tencha used in the TEAVANA™ Bar, ground with precision at a Uji facility. Suitable for matcha aficionados, this product enables customers to recreate the high-quality matcha experience previously found only in stores.

Complete Your Matcha Ritual

To enhance the at-home matcha experience, Starbucks is also offering a range of traditional matcha utensils such as TEAVANA® Matcha Bowls and Chasen (whisks) specifically designed for matcha preparation. These items make splendid gifts for matcha lovers and newcomers alike.
